One Piece is filled with a lot of amazing and well written character's, however as far as side character's go you'd be hard-pressed to find one better than M

I hold him in a similar light to Jinbe where although they were sorta enemies Bon Clay put his life on the line to ensure that Luffy could move forward with his dream and knew he would survive. Bon Clay even saved Jinbe in Impel Down along with Luffy in taking Magellan on solo while everyone else could escape.
As much as I'd love to see Bon-chan return and join the crew, I think it'd make more sense (story-wise) for him to be a grand fleet commander. At this point, the more allies Luffy has/can gain the better. fate of bon clay, dies of aids from too much okama smex.
